Differenze tra Arial ed Helvetica

Presentiamo questo breve video che esplora le differenze tra i caratteri Arial ed Helvetica.

Helvetica è dei font più famosi al mondo, soprattutto per l'efficenza con cui si adatta a qualsiasi messaggio tipografico. La versione originale fu progettata da Max Miedinger nel 1957 per Haas'sche Schriftgiesserei in Svizzera. Nel 1960 il nome fu cambiato in Helvetica (Svizzera in Latino).

Nel 1983 D. Stempel AG ridisegna il font Helvetica e crea il Neue Helvetica con il fine di apportare dei miglioramenti alla leggibilità, alla punteggiatura ed alla spaziatura dei numeri.
Entrambe le famiglie Helvetica sono preinstallate sui computer Apple.

I PC Windows invece non hanno l'Helvetica, ma il font sostitutivo Arial.
Il carattere è stato creato nel 1982 da Robin Nicholas e Patricia Saunders per la Monotype Typography.
E' un font molto versatile che può essere usato sia per i testi stampati che per i testi video, dove in effetti dà il massimo; fu progettato infatti affinché le variazioni nella forma e nella spaziatura permettessero una maggiore leggibilità sullo schermo nelle varie risoluzioni.
